DESIGN | Crematorium

The crematorium lies at the foot of the Little Carpathian slopes in a sparse forest, which forms a vertical contrast with its horizontal lines. The whole complex is composed with a great respect for the landscape and the placement of architecture in it. From the main ceremonial hall there is an impressive view of the forest with old trees. The crematorium is conceived in the spirit of simple Nordic modernism and is one of the best works of post-war architecture in Slovakia. It is a national cultural monument since 2003.

Realization: 1967 – 1968

Architect: Ferdinand Milučký
